7mm Backcountry Update:
We’re still waiting for the 195gr Berger EOL load to show up, but the cartridge is certainly delivering what was promised in the velocity department, and doing it accurately for the most part. Here are the numbers we saw from our 24” @benchmarkbarrels Carbon Sendero Lite test barrel:

175gr Fusion Tipped: 3094.9FPS/19.8SD. This was the least accurate load, averaging 1.4” at 100 yards. For us, that goes in the trash heap.

170gr Terminal Ascent: 3133.6FPS/14.2SD. The 170TA was very consistent, averaging just under 1/2MOA including cold bore shots. It’s also a great hunting bullet, and we’d have no problem taking it for any North American game species below big bears.

168gr Barnes LRX: 3141.3/10.3SD. This load produced the best group fired, a tiny .218” bughole. One group did open to .921” though, so the average across three came in at .539”(just barely over 1/2MOA). The LRX is a proven hunting bullet, and we’re happy to see a factory load with a monolithic shooting so well.

A one of a kind camouflage on this #7mmSAW build, for a mom to remember the little hands of her kiddos long after they're grown! This build started as a standard Remington 700 in 7mm08, and we did a full rebuild using our SwitchLug system, Manners LRH stock, our AICS compatible bottom metal, and barrels for 7mm SAW and .223 Rem. That Otter Creek Hydrogen-K certainly pairs well with a 20" barrel!

Matterhorn in the Rockies! Took the 7mm SAW up to Colorado for the Burris CO Extreme NRL Hunter match and got to enjoy some of God’s most beautiful country. Day 1 had some struggles but gained enough ground to stay in the Top 10 and be 7th in Open Heavy. The 7mm SAW never disappoints, whether chasing steel or fur it just consistently delivers. Big thanks to Dorgan Trostel, Trevor Schuetz, their wives, and their whole crew for making this match work! Now it’s time to get this Thunder Beast Arms Corporation can ordered up! There are some incredible companies who support these matches, and TBAC is absolutely one of the best.
